Title:
CarboInvent - Multi-Source Inventory Methods for Quantifying Carbon Stocks and Stock Changes in European Forests
Contact:
Dr. Bernhard Kenter, Thomas Riedel, Dr. Wolfgang Stümer
Abstract:
The overall objective of CarboInvent was to provide methodologies for combining different data sources towards an improved estimate of forest carbon stocks and stock changes at the national and European level, for the purposes of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and the proper implementation of the KP Articles on LULUCF. World Forestry applied the bottom up integration approach.

The aim was
• To integrate all available data sources
• To apply a combined 2 phase multi source inventory for carbon stock
• To scale up the different carbon figures
• To apply post stratification
• To establish error budgets
• To calculate the cost efficiency of the approach
• To test the approach in 4 test sites across Europe
